Cum Federico

Federico Cum received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electronic engineering in 2019 and 2022. During his thesis, he started working in the smart agriculture field, applying machine learning techniques to plant status prediction. Beginning in November 2022, he is attending a Ph.D. in electronic engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin in the eLiONS research group continuing his thesis work on smart agriculture. He aims to find reliable machine-learning models for plant monitoring and to integrate them inside low-power IoT systems that can be used in the agriculture sector to significantly increase the yield of crops and reduce as much as possible the waste of essential resources, such as water. He sees the Ph.D. period as a way to contribute to the research toward a more sustainable society and a possibility to expand his knowledge about the design of an embedded system in general: from target specifications to firmware development, PCB design, and product verification.
