Rossi Fabio

Fabio Rossi (Pinerolo, IT, 1992) received his M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering and his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Turin, IT) in 2017 and 2022, respectively.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the electronic Life-Oriented iNtelligent Systems (eLiONS) laboratory inside the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET) of the Politecnico di Torino, where he is currently working as a post-doc researcher. Thanks to the fusion of his bio-electronic engineering skills, enriched by the visiting experience (Feb. – June 2019) at the Motion Analysis Lab inside the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital (Boston, MA) and by the current collaboration (2020 – ongoing) with Omnidermal Biomedics company (Parma, IT) in developing innovative products, he is constantly improving his expertise inside and outside the academy.

The main activities consist of designing and developing low-power intelligent wearable devices to assess and process body movements (e.g., by analyzing muscular data through surface Electromyography – sEMG) during daily-life actions and their application in different biomedical scenarios. These include smart IoT systems for long-term healthcare monitoring, enhanced real-time systems for functional recovery and rehabilitation (e.g., active control of electrical stimulation – FES), and wearable embedded recognition systems (mainly dedicated to hand gestures and facial expressions) suitable for human-machine interfaces (HMI) and serious game therapy.
