Valerio Andrea

Andrea Valerio received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in biomedical engineering with a specialization in Biomedical Instrumentation at the Politecnico di Torino in 2017 and 2020, respectively. He carried out his master’s thesis at the Motion Analysis Lab of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, under the supervision of Prof. Danilo Demarchi and Prof. Paolo Bonato. His thesis focused on the development of data analysis techniques, including the design of signal processing procedures and machine learning algorithms to derive clinically relevant information from sensor data collected using wearable technology. In November 2020, he started the Ph.D. program in Electronics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino under the supervision of Prof. Danilo Demarchi. In his Ph.D., he first focused on designing a wireless system for estimating Pulse Wave Velocity. Then, during his internship at Tyndall National Institute of Cork, he was involved in a study concerning the deployment of machine learning algorithms for blood pressure assessment. Outside the office, he is passionate about music, cinema, photography and videomaking. Moreover, he practices several sports such as volleyball, skiing and scuba diving.
